Love old sweater!

I spend way too much time studying my Pottery Barn catalogs and pinterest! If only I studied this much for school !! I find some of the prettiest things, but so expensive! I could feed my family for a week for what one item cost! Thanks to pinterest and they many many creative bloggers out there, it is so easy to get the look you want for pennies!!
One awesome thing I noticed lately is the old sweater repurposing projects! I love the look for fall and winter so decided to see what I could do.
A trip to the local Goodwill and I found the lamp, first a bluish color, I repainted it silver and found an old sweater for a few dollars and covered the shade. It is not perfect, as I am not good at covering lamps, but this is my first!
With some of the left over sweater sleeve I covered the glass candle holder I bought from the Dollar Tree.  The jar of pinecones is a actually a pickle jar!!
A few weeks earlier my grandmother and I made the sweater pillows. The look great too!!
I used the left over sleeves from the sweater pillows and made the glass covers for my Dollar Tree candle holders for the mantle.
We live in the south so it doesn't get too cold, but I like to be snuggly and comfy during the fall and winter months. I feel like this helps me to achieve this, since we don't get the very cold weather which makes it feel more like winter! Not that I am complaining, I can't even drive in the rain, let alone snow!! So no snow for us is a good thing!!! LOL
Stay safe and warm my friends!

Fall in the den

Fall at our house is always so much fun!
There is always so much to do. We have fun decorating inside and out. The kids will decorate for halloween where I like to decorate for fall.

The fall season is also the kick off of the birthday season at our house as well. My baby boy will be 2 in a few more days! November my baby girl will be 6, and after that we have 4 birthdays the week of christmas! I love fall because it begins the holidays, without the stress yet!
Time for cozy candles, pumpkin picking and apple cider.
My how I love fall !

A Whole New Look...

It has been a long time since I last posted. Shortley after Christmas I decided I needed to do
something different in my house. I took everything down and packed it all into bins. Numerous plates, candles, roses, and tea cups...everything! I started fresh and new!
We painted the house a latte color and thus gave me the perfect back drop for my new look.
I then started browsing through every Pottery Barn catalog and website I could find and found much inspiration from Pinterest and other bloggers. There are so many creative people out there!
I found the idea of the Dollar Tree mirrors and made the big mirror along with the Pottery Barn inspired shelf and we painted it black.
The jars filled with ping pong balls and we numbered them.
I spent countless hours online and got many great ideas from websites.
It took a lot of time, but not a lot of money and I am very happy with the change.
I will post more pics soon of the rooms to get a better idea.
Happy crafting,
Jenn

Happy 1st birthday Matthew

I can't believe a year has past since my my little man was born!
On October 12,2011 Matthew turned 1 years old.
We had a party with some family and friends last Sunday.
We have been practicing sing the Happy Birthday song so he'd maybe recognize it when we sang it to him. He was so surprised as we all sang, looking at everyone as if to say....is this for me?!?!?

We had a beautiful cake made from our favorite store and they give babies a smash cake along with the birthday cake.
Everyone loves those baby smash cake pictures!! What sweet memories!!!

Mickey mouse was the theme as my little man loves mickey mouse clubhouse and I made the decorations for him.
We only have 5 more birthdays coming up from now until the end of the year!! Matthew's is the kick off!!! LOL
I love my little man so much and so happy and blessed to be his mommy!!!!
Love,
Jenn

I'm a winner and Happy Fall ya'll

Fall is in the here and that's the time I get in the mood for some apple cider, nice comfy throws and pumpkin scented candles. The kids and I decorated the outside with scarecrows
and pumpkins, while indoors are more subtle colors and pink and white pumpkins.
As much as I love the fall colors,
it just doesn't go with all my pastels. But the reds, oranges and yellows sure do look good with my red door!!!
This week had its ups and downs, but I was ever so thrilled to get a wonderful package in the mail!!!
The very sweet Amy over at Bunny Rose Cottage
sent over these amazing things from her dreamy giveaway!!! The pink and shabby pumpkin fits right into my decor and the sweet bag she made herself!!! Everything is absolutely perfectly me and I felt like a child at Christmas opening gifts as I opened everything in the box!!! Thank you Amy!!!
Have a lovely weekend my friends!!

Kitchen pics and cannoli cake...yum!

When we first made over the kitchen I made some brown curtains. I should have known I wasn't going to keep them very long!! I am lace lady and the light colors make me happy!!
I put my lace back up and added new blinds, which I am not a fan of, but we need some privacy I guess!!
I think the brown counters add some contrast!
I love to bake and decorate! It's my favorite things to do being a stay at home mom.
I especially love when the family enjoys what I make and my rewards may not be bonuses pay raises, I get hugs and kisses!!!!

This is a cannoli cake I made. Pretty simple too. Just made 2 round cakes from cake mix and made a cannoli filling from this recipe here:
www.sargento.com/recipes/64/cannoli-cake
and made the frosting from
1 c cold milk
1/4 c powdered sugar
1 small box vanilla instant pudding. Beat on low for 1 minute and add 8 oz thawed cool whip.

It came out great and the frosting was nice and light!! Nothing too heavy and sugary, perfect with the cannoli cake!!!
Enjoy!!
