Simple Project of the day

I just love finding treasure at the thrift stores and making them pretty.
This frame was a simple wood frame I found for pennies a few years ago.
I painted it off white cream color and cut a piece of pretty wrapping paper to fit
inside the glass then added the thick pink ribbon for the final shabby chic touch.
It fits perfect in the newly decorated bathroom.
And the faux finish on the bathroom walls is actually just sand added to the paint.
It kind of gives it a concrete look.

Master Bath Almost All Done!!! Before and After pics

Here is the before pics. Ugly outdated bathroom in our master bedroom. It is a very small space and so it needed alot od work and we still need to get more stuff done!
Michael pulled out alot of the nasty brown tile I hated and tore out the flourscent lights, I found a vintage light fisture at the thrift store for only 1.50!!
It fits in there perfectly!
Now to the after pics~~

We painted the bath acustome color from Walmart. I found a paint chip called lady of the lake at Lowes and rather than spend the 25.00 on the gallon there I bought it Walmart for 11.86
It came out beautifully!!
Now we still have more to finish up and add to the bathroom.
The ceiling needs to be painted, and we plan on adding some sort of chair rail or crown molulding above the tiolet bowl and around the vanity.
I want to add a pic also on the wall where the light switch is.
It's a work in progress as is the rest of the house! At least now we can enjoy the space and have our own little escape spot for the world!

Thift store Saturday

Once again here it is another hot Saturday and I was at the thrift stores!!
I headed out looking for certain items neither of which did I find.
I did find a pink Santa, pretty little mirror for my new bath( the mirror will be getting a new coat of pink paint). I found a brass quilt rack that will be painted white, the little white tea pot and creamer were 2.00 each and a milk glass lattice candy dish for 1.75.
We picked a color for the master bedroom, a light purple almost lavender color and I hope to get it painted tommorow as well.
My search for a small dresser to use a the bathroom vanity yeilded no result! I am going to hold off for now and when we finally put a new tub in then I will get the vanity as well. Mine isn't too bad I guess. I still will be on the lookout!!
I also made some faux cupcakes this morning, and just finished up two more.
Mikayla found some craft supplies at the thrift store and started on a holidays quilt!! Yes little Mikayla!! She is so very creative!!!

Milkglass and Tea cup birdfeeder

I started collecting milk glass. I just have a few pieces around the house (maybe 5 or 6) but my collection will grow over time!
It's always fun looking for certain treasures at the thrift stores!!
Yesterday I made the tea cup bird feeder too.
I found the spindle at the thrift store for only 1.00 and so I painted it white and added some pink, liquid nailed on the tea cup!! It adds some personality out there!!

Another house pic

Today I have added two pics. One being the wooden windowsill my hubby put up for me. We bought the house and it had marble windowsills and they weren't in great shape. Michael took it out and put in this pretty wood one. It looks so nice and of course I had to add some tea cups!!
The other pic I just threw together the setting on the side table and the little pink shelf I found at the thrift store for 1.00. I just added pretty pink paper to the back and some simple lace. The little plate hanging by the ribbon I found at Goodwill for 50 cents.
We are in the process of getting our master bathroom redone and I found a vintage light fixture for only 1.50!! I'll get some pics added of that too!!

My roses

These roses I made out of coffee filters. It was so easy!
I put red dye in lots of water to create a pink color and dipped the filters into the water. I let them dry then after that made the roses by scrunching the filters together and pulling them apart to make the roses. It was very easy and they came out pretty good I think.

A few of my favorite things...

I was just browsing thru my pics of the house and thought I'd make a post on some of my favorite things around the house!! We have so much work still to do and all of takes a great deal of time and money- two of which we never have at the same time!!
This weekend my master bath should be finished and then on to other things as time and money permit.
I have a huge wishlist of things we want for the house but probably wont get to until the kids move out!! LOL
Although the burgundy carpet is outdated it sure does hide kool aid really well!! I guess it will stay for a while!! :)

Pink frame

Here is another very simple project.
I painted the frame pink and just added pretty fabrics and papers in the slots.
Looks shabby and only took minutes to do. The hardest part was arranging the different pieces to see what I liked best.
I painted an old wooden magazine holder- pink of course and tommorow I will shabby it up too.
The kids are missing their friends from school and I am trying to so hard to entertain them!! It has been so humid!!
We are really looking forward to Grandma, Grandpa and Auntie Ambers visit!!!

The twins tiarras

Megan and Mikayla did a great job on thier tiarras!! I really think thier personalities show in their beautiful work!!
They carefully chose the colors, ribbons and papers they used for their tiarras!!
I can't wait to see what the wands will look like!!

Fit for a princess

The other day the girls and I decided to have a tea party. Well we started planning for the rather small party when we realized we all needed tiarras!!
So craft hour turned into a 3 hour event!! These girls are creative!!
Mine is the J one and Michelle made the pink and black tiarra- it rocks!! She did a great job!! Needless to say we still haven't had that tea party! Our next step is- wands!! What else?!?!?
